Raiding and defending
Every totem on the server can be taken. Here is how to take theirs, and how to make yours a nightmare to reach.
Why raid
Every totem you own counts toward your score for the season, and higher tiers count for more. A stolen totem becomes yours with every upgrade on it. Stealing is the fastest way up the leaderboard, and it is what BSP is built for.
Raiding is allowed everywhere outside the safe zones. Read the server rules before your first raid.
Finding a totem
- The Totem Compass points to your own nearest totem. Load it with Shatter Coins and start tracking, and for a while it points to the nearest rival totem instead. Then it needs to cool down.
- Follow players home. Tracking someone from spawn to find their base is fair play. Camping the edge of a safe zone to kill people as they step out is not.
- Watch for decoys. A Decoy Totem looks like the real thing to everyone but its owner, pulls compasses toward it, and goes off like a trap when you try to steal it.
Stealing a totem
- Break in. Walls, force fields, turrets: the pack is full of tools for getting through.
- Right-click the placed totem and choose to steal it. A timer starts: five minutes by default.
- The owner is warned at once, anywhere on the network, and by Discord if their totem has the Herald power, so expect company.
- Stay close until the timer runs out. Get killed, or stray too far for too long, and the steal is cancelled.
- It is yours, with every upgrade on it.
Raid powers help. They count when the totem in your offhand has them as you start the steal:
| Power | What it does |
|---|---|
| Lockpick | Your steals take less time |
| Shroud | The owner is warned late |
| Recall Block | Delays the owner's Recall |
| Thief's Step | Silent footsteps, hidden from weak Alarms |
| Siege | Mine at full speed inside Fortify for a while |
A thief who has just taken a totem cannot teleport away straight away. The owner cannot teleport in within 150 blocks of the raid (by default): their Recall power is the only quick way back.
Defending your base
No defence makes a totem impossible to steal. The aim is to make it slow and loud, and to be there when it happens.
Base powers on your placed totem:
| Power | What it does |
|---|---|
| Fortify | Nearby blocks resist explosions, and intruders mine slower |
| Alarm | Outlines intruders and warns you |
| Sentinel | Tells you who is inside your Alarm, from anywhere |
| Ward | Weakens intruders |
| Deadlock | Your totem takes longer to steal |
| Cloaking | Outsiders see untouched land where your base is |
| Recall | Offers to bring you back to your totem while it is being stolen |
Build like it matters. Bury the totem deep, make the room around it hard to stand in, and use the pack: force fields, turrets, traps and cannons. Put a few Decoy Totems around to waste raiders' time.
Keep coins safe. A Coin Vault can be lock-picked for a quarter of its coins. Buy lock levels and an Alarm for it, or keep coins in the bank instead.
Teams and raids
Teammates cannot steal from each other, and a team teleport never lands within 150 blocks of any steal in progress, so a team cannot pour in behind a friend who started a raid. See Teams.
