Your rank
Ranks are earned, never asked for. The more you play, fight and raid, the higher you climb, all by yourself.
Points
Everything below earns points. These are the defaults; the server sets the real values, and its signals can be switched on or off.
| Signal | Points, by default |
|---|---|
| Minutes played | 1 point per 10 minutes |
| Player kills | 25 per kill |
| Mob kills | 1 per kill |
| Totems stolen | 150 per totem |
| Totems protected | 60 per totem |
The server can also switch on more signals, such as claims bought, totems placed, seasons survived, or your season score (by default 1 point per 100 BSP-Core points, counted as the highest score you reach each season, so taking a totem down and putting it back gains nothing). Every signal is counted even while it is switched off, so switching one on later credits what you already did. Your rank screen shows exactly which signals count and what each is worth.
Fair play: killing the same player again within ten minutes (by default) counts nothing, killing a teammate never counts, and killing yourself is a death, not a kill. A totem only counts as protected when its owner was online on that server when the steal failed.
Ladders
The ranks form a ladder. Each rung needs a number of points and gives rewards (see Rewards and seasons). When your points pass a rung you move onto it at once, you are told what you got, and the server hears about it.
The server can run more than one ladder, each counting its own signals: a Playtime ladder for minutes played, say, and a Raider ladder for kills and totems. You climb each one separately and hold one rung on each. With several ladders, the rank-up message names the ladder: "You are now Warden on Playtime!"
A rank is never taken away because your points fell. On the network, your counts add up across every server.
Ranks open doors too: some areas and mines are kept for higher ranks, and you can own more land.
Awards
Awards are single ranks you earn once your points reach a target, such as "Apple Picker" for pieces earned. Each comes with its own rewards, given once, and a message: "You earned Apple Picker!" Some awards are seasonal and are taken back at a season's end, to be earned again.
Your rank before your name
Your rank's title shows before your name in chat and the tab list, in its colours. Some titles are drawn as a picture instead of text: hover it to read it. There is nothing to install; your game gets the pictures when you join.

Your rank screen
Press U, click the R button in your inventory, or type /rank.
- Top: a chip for each ladder, and AWARDS, which lists every award with your progress toward it.
- Left: the chosen ladder, with your rung in gold and the ones below lit. Hover a rung to see what it gives.
- Right: your rank and that ladder's title (as its picture, when it has one), your points (lifetime and this season), the bar to the next rung and what it gives, the fastest ways to get there, and every signal that ladder counts, with its count, worth, share and points.
It refreshes every second while open, shrinks to fit small windows, and opens with your own rung and the next one in view. /rank text shows the same in chat: one line per ladder, then the awards you have reached.
