Portals
Walk-through portals at spawn and around the network. Walk in and you are through, or pick where to go.
Using a portal
Walk into the lit field. A portal with one destination takes you straight there. There is no band cooldown, and no warm-up unless the server has set one for that portal.
The portal you land beside will not fire again until you walk off it, and the same portal waits five seconds (by default) before it takes you twice, so nobody bounces back and forth. Moves to another server hold you still for one second first.
Choosing a destination
A portal can list up to eight destinations (by default). With more than one, a chooser card opens with the portal's name and one row per destination:
- Press Go on the one you want, or Cancel (or Esc) to step back out.
- A destination that is down shows greyed out. One on a server you cannot enter says which server and which Access Token you need.
- While the card is open you are held still. Being hurt, or making no choice for 30 seconds, steps you back out.
- Coins are only charged once you pick a destination and actually go.

A destination can be:
| Kind | Takes you to |
|---|---|
| Warp | A warp |
| Portal warp | A place only portals reach |
| Portal link | Another portal, anywhere on the network. It goes one way, unless the two portals list each other. |
| Random | A random spot on this or another server |
| Position | A set spot |
| Back | Your own /back spot: where you last teleported from or where you died, whichever is newer |
A Back portal is a way home for everyone. In a list it is the wide turquoise key across the top of the card.
Warm-ups
A portal can have a warm-up of up to 30 seconds. It is off by default. While it counts down you are held where you touched the field, and a box at the top of the screen says "Going in N s. Crouch to stay."
- Crouch to step back.
- Being hurt cancels it.
- Swift Travel does not shorten a portal warm-up.
With a chooser card, the countdown starts after you press Go.
Closed portals
Closed portals grow hangar doors that slide in from both ends and meet in the middle, hazard stripes facing each other. A portal may open on a clock, by redstone, or by hand, and may close by itself while every destination it lists is down.

Rules
A portal can need a rank, an item you hold, Shatter Coins per pass, or bought access through an Access Token. The raid rules still apply: no portal lands you within 150 blocks of your own totem while it is being stolen.
After you go through a portal, /back brings you out in front of it, facing away, rather than inside the field.
Portals are built by the server from Portal Frame and Portal Core blocks, and each has a unique name such as BSP-Frostwarf-2. Players cannot place or break them, and TNT, pistons and endermen leave them alone.
