Servers and travel

All BSP mods

BSP is a network of servers. Your Teleport Band gets you around all of them.

One network, many servers

BSP runs several servers behind one address. Wherever you are:

  • You come with you. Move to another server and your inventory, armour, ender chest, XP, health, effects, advancements, Curios slots and backpacks all follow. Your bed or respawn anchor point stays on each server. Your totem travels with you too. See Switching servers.
  • Chat is shared. A message typed on one server is seen on every server (team chat stays with your team), and the player list shows everyone on the network without saying which server they are on.
  • You come back where you left. Log off on one server and you log back in on the same one, or at spawn if that server is down.

Your main server

There are four servers to build a base on: Frostwarf, BoulderBrook, Moongrove and Stormfall. You start with access to one of them.

The first time you head for a server that needs access, you are asked to choose your main server. It is one choice, free, for ever: your base goes there, and you always have access to it.

To play on another server as well, use an Access Token. Tokens are sold in the shops, either as rent (a number of hours) or full access for good. Right-click a token to use it. Rented time adds up, and full access replaces rent. You can also give a token to a teammate.

What you may enter is shown above your hotbar: a gold frame for your main server, turquoise for full access, and violet with a countdown for rented. You are warned an hour, ten minutes and a minute before rent runs out. When it does, you are moved to your main server.

The Teleport Band

Every player has a Teleport Band: a tenth hotbar slot after the usual nine. Scroll past the last slot or press . (by default), then right-click to open it. There is nothing to craft and nothing to lose on death.

Tab What it does
Homes Set a home where you stand, on any server, and go back from anywhere on the network.
Warps Places the server has set up. Some cost Shatter Coins or need a rank.
Players Everyone online on the network. Ask to go to them, or ask them to come to you.
Team Your teammates, on any server. GO takes you to one straight away.
More Spawn, Back, a random spot on any server, and your server access.

Homes. You start with three. The Extra Homes power on your totem adds more. If you lose the totem, the extra homes are not deleted, only locked until you earn the slots back. A home can be made public, so friends can visit with /phome <player>.

Warm-up and cooldown

Every teleport has a short warm-up with a countdown: 5 seconds by default. Moving or being hit cancels it. After a teleport there is a cooldown before the next, 60 seconds by default. The Swift Travel power on your totem shortens it.

A teleport request lasts 60 seconds (by default) before it runs out. A random teleport lands you somewhere between 500 and 5,000 blocks from spawn (by default), never in lava or on a cactus.

Raids and teleports

Teleports never give a raid away for free:

  • Nothing lands you within 150 blocks of a totem of yours while it is being stolen (by default). The Recall power is the one quick way back.
  • A team teleport never lands within 150 blocks of any steal in progress on the network, so a team cannot pour in behind a friend who started a raid.
  • Random teleports stay at least 200 blocks from any raid (by default).
  • A thief who has just taken a totem cannot teleport straight away.
  • Spawn, arenas and other areas can block teleporting in or out, or setting a home.

Portals and world edges

Walk-through portals at spawn and around the network take you somewhere without the band's cooldown. A portal with several destinations opens a card to choose from, and some need a rank, an item or an Access Token. See Portals.

Some worlds are joined at their edges. Walk to a linked edge of the world border and you are asked whether to travel: press TRAVEL and you arrive on the next server, at the matching point along its edge.

Commands

The band does everything, but commands work too:

Command What it does
/home [name], /sethome [name], /delhome <name>, /homes Your homes
/phome <player> [home] Visit a player's public home
/warp <name>, /warps Warps
/spawn, /back Spawn; or where you last teleported from or died, whichever is newer
/rtp [server] A random spot
/tpa <player>, /tpahere <player> Ask to go to a player, or ask them to come to you
/tpaccept, /tpdeny, /tpignore Answer requests, or ignore them
/tpcancel Cancel a teleport during its warm-up
/tpnow Pay Shatter Coins to skip a cooldown, where the server allows it

Describes BSP-Core 1.6.2, Teleport 0.2.5, RankUp 0.4.0 and Region Guard 0.6.0. Numbers are the defaults; the server's settings may differ.
